That is how I felt after finishing this engagement shoot. This couple was so much fun, so open to try different lighting styles, and so comfortable with each other that the session was a blast. To top it all off I got the chance to chat with Edda Taylor, one of my photography heroes - she is amazing! What a night! I have tons of work to do right now, but I just had to get to a few of the images from tonight. Thank you Annie and Branden for a great night. Here are a few...JFp
I think I called a previous post "pretty in pink", hence the name of this one. These are of two of my girls. I use them as models when I'm working out different lighting scenarios. They were thrilled to get all frilled up for the photo. One thing that I wanted for this shot was the combination of soft pink dresses with the rugged texture of the flooring and backdrop. For photographers, the lighting combines a beauty dish (main), ringflash (fill), and strip light (backdrop). JFp

As the amazing show Cavalia is set to depart Chicago for D.C., I had the opportunity to go backstage with writer Sharon Biggs for a story we are collaborating on for Horse Connection Magazine. What an amazing and challenging assignment! Low light, much movement, and gorgeous animals (not to mention huge! More than once I found myself in the wrong place as someone rode a horse through the barn during intermission!). All of the artists and backstage workers were so gracious, allowing us time to get the information and shots we needed! And the show was beyond fabulous! I sent my first "baby" off to Kindergarten today. Sigh, they grow so fast! He let me snap a few photos on our way to school...JFp
We planted a rather large garden at my house this summer - all heirloom vegetables. I tried to get as many colors in the garden as I could. Here's a peak at our harvest. This is what I picked with my kids today...Yummy!!! JFp
Sigh! I can't believe summer is about over and the kids will be heading off to school soon! My oldest starts Kindergarten next week, and the two middle will both be in PreSchool. Sigh! Time flies! With the intend of making the most of the last days of summer, we all headed off to Tippecanoe State Park last weekend to explore the river. The kids splashed in the water, and I was secretly glad that we live by a Great Lake with sparkling water and clean sands! Here are a few pics from the outing...JFp
